Types of Associate Degree?
There are 4 categories of associate’s degrees, and each of them has a specific goal. These are:
1. Associate’s of Science (A.S)
2. Associate’s of Arts (A.A)
3. Associate’s of Applied Business (A.A.B)
4. Associate’s of Applied Science (A.A.S)
Associate’s of Science and Associate’s of Arts are for students that are planning to pursue a bachelor’s degree or a master’s degree. A.S has five or more credits of math or science courses. It is best for careers that require many courses, such as engineering and nursing. An A.A degree has at least five credits of social science or humanity courses. It prepares students to get into many varieties of fields compared with an A.S degree.
Associate’s of Applied Business (A.A.B) and Associate’s of Applied Science (A.A.S) are career degree programs as they prepare students to get employment after graduation. The curriculum of A.A.S and A.A.B focuses on major-related courses. Students with an A.A.S or A.A.B can transfer to a university, but they are required to take additional required courses.
Associate Degree Jobs
An associate’s degree can lead the way towards various careers in different fields, but some jobs require you to have a bachelor’s degree. An associate’s degree holder can be eligible for entry position jobs such as human resources assistants or administrators, but a bachelor’s degree holder is more acceptable for a specialist role or human resource generalist. An associate degree holder can also get roles in various healthcare professions, such as a dental hygienist or a nurse. Other job opportunities for an associate degree holder include tech support, paralegal, and a preschool teacher.
Getting an online associate’s degree can’t hinder you from getting a job. There is no way an employer will get to know that you got your degree online unless you have listed it in your resume. According to the US Bureau of Statistics, the average weekly salary for a full time associate degree holder is $887 while that of a bachelor’s degree holder is $1,248. An associate degree holder earns more than a high school graduate and a college graduate that does not have any degree. The average salary and wage of a high school graduate $746 while that of a person who has completed college but does not have a degree is $833.
