Not Enjoying Adequate Sleep

Common Mistakes Students Make When Learning

Studies have shown how 45 percent of teenagers fail to achieve the recommended 8-10 hours of sleep required to perform well during the day. Not having enough sleep is a problem for students. And it can mar their learning ability in school thereby making them perform low in exams. Sleep is very essential in improving memory. And the brain needs it to create new connections while prioritizing the most vital information.

Learn to have adequate sleep as it’s  important for all students. Research has shown that observing a minimum of 8 hours sleep a night during exams brings about better grades than revising late at night.

Always Cramming or Memorizing While Revising

You see most students tend to rush in the course of trying to gather much information quickly in the last few days before their exams. It’s really a poor learning technique that leads a student to start cramming so as to complete revising.

Recent study shows that those who spaced out their revision had about 74 percent compared to others who memorizes. It also shows that people who memorized only had about 49 percent when exam was conducted in an interval of just a week.

Not Enjoying Adequate Cool Breeze

In this 21st century, students dedicate more time to their phones or play video games than enjoying the cool breeze. Getting enough fresh air helps improve your memory immensely and you assimilate things with ease. Recent research shows how going for a short walk, even for at least 12 minutes, can boost attentiveness, happiness and confidence.

Always Leaving The Difficult Problems Untouched Till The End

Have in mind that the more difficult the task, the more energy and focus you need to get it done. It is advisable to attempt hardest tasks around 10 am when your daily biological clocks make you most active. Avoid leaving tasks later in the night as it makes them more difficult and you stand a chance of that task being carried over to the next day. This is because by this time, you may be completely worn out and may feel extremely tired to complete them well.
